{"id":1224,"date":"2022-08-03T05:10:22","date_gmt":"2022-08-03T05:10:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/192.168.23.28\/opening-of-the-holy-door\/"},"modified":"2022-08-31T05:30:44","modified_gmt":"2022-08-31T05:30:44","slug":"opening-of-the-holy-door","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/perdonanza-celestiniana.it\/en\/the-celestinian-forgiveness\/opening-of-the-holy-door\/","title":{"rendered":"Opening of the Holy Door"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Holy Door of the Basilica of Santa Maria di Collemaggio \u2013 the most important moment of the Forgiveness celebration as it marks the beginning of the annual indulgence granted by <a href=\"https:\/\/perdonanza-celestiniana.it\/en\/the-celestinian-forgiveness\/pope-celestine-v\/\"><b>Pope Celestine V<\/b><\/a>\u00a0in 1294 \u2013 is opened on the evening of 28 August by a Cardinal invited by the Church of L\u2019Aquila.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From that moment, for a day (until 29 August, when at dusk the Holy Door is closed), those \u201csincerely confessed and repented\u201d will gain the plenary indulgence as provided in the Bull of Forgiveness by Pope Celestine V in 1294.  \r\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Archdiocese of L\u2019Aquila has detailed that the gaining of indulgences, either for oneself or on behalf of a deceased loved one, requires:\r\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Visiting the basilica from Vespers on Aug. 28 to sunset on Aug. 29, recite the Creed, the Lord&#8217;s Prayer and a prayer for the Holy Father\u2019s Intentions;<\/li><li>Receiving the Sacramental Confession and the Holy Communion (within 8 days before or after the day the indulgence is sought).<\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Holy Door of the Basilica of Santa Maria di Collemaggio \u2013 the most important moment of the Forgiveness celebration [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"parent":1252,"menu_order":5,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"page-templates\/left-sidebar.php","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-1224","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.6 -
